| 该猫起源于1974年。1975年首次在美国展出后不久便得冠军。在美、英得到公认，多次获得美国猫展的最高荣誉。体型类似于暹罗猫，眼睛多为绿色，也有琥珀色。嘴长尖，呈三角形的大耳朵，尾巴末端是带黑色的深褐色，下巴和胸部颜色较浅。前腿内侧有条纹，毛短、柔滑、油亮。幼猫出生后九星期以前眼睛颜色会改变，又因体型小，看上去被毛较长。毛色主要为带暖棕色的深褐色，但也有很多种其他颜色,其中以银蓝色的品种最为名贵。东方短毛猫活泼好动,好奇心大,喜欢攀高跳远与人嬉戏,对主人忠心耿耿。另外还喜欢撒娇，性格类似于它的祖先暹罗猫，嫉妒心强，以如果主人冷落它的话，不但会吃醋有时还会发脾气。 | ||
